I love roses…yellow being one of my favorite colors. But roses can be tricky to grow and maintain depending on where you live. So, lets start out with when you should plant them. Here is a quick and easy chart you can follow. Planting times vary all over the country but here’s a quick list. Northeast, and Eastern coast North Central South Central Southwest, and Pacific Coast Pacific Northwest Filed under: Flowers Comments: None |

Personally I think the best and most “Friendly Fence” is the Rose of Sharon. They come in all sorts of varieties too. You can usually find them in your local nurseries but you can also order them online or through flowering magazines. Just be sure if you order it online there is a 1 year guarantee…and be sure to keep that label and not to loose it. I guarantee that if you get 20 plants that 10 of them will not have made it and you can get replacements if this does happen! Filed under: Flowers Comments: None |

If you are having a problem with your fungal sport plant disease such as powdery mildew – try mixing some baking soda with water and spraying it on the leaf surface…this ways it makes the fungal sports unable to actually infect the plant…therefor you don’t have the plant disease. Not to mention this is a lot healthier for the environment and a lot cheaper than all the other products that sometimes really don’t work! 1 tablespoon of baking soda , 1 teaspoon of dish soap, 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil and 1 gallon of water. Make sure you test this on a small area – you don’t want to burn the plant if it is a sensitive plant! Filed under: Flowers andGardening Tips andLawn Care Comments: None |

There is hope that spring will be here sooner than we know it….but just not soon enough! I saw a crocus…a lone crocus peeking through the snow today. I felt kind of bad for it because the weather has been unseasonably warm the last few days which is why it must have been tricked into blooming. But it is a nice sign that spring is coming. That is the only reason I like winter because we have spring to look forward to…I don’t like the fall…there is just cold weather ahead for that one! Filed under: Flowers Comments: 1 Comment |
