Great Gardening Tips

Sending Flowers
Posted on 01.30.09 by thegardengossip @

You have to be sure to order your flowers or trees from places that know when to ship them. All of these catologs that you may get in the mail have really great prices and they have pictures of flowers that look fabulous but out of the dozen that you get at that great price only 2 usually survive. I once ordered some flowers thinking that they would ship them when the time was right but they shipped them in January…you can not plant flowers when there is snow on the ground! Just be sure you read their shipping policies.

Flowers in the Snow
Posted on 01.23.09 by thegardengossip @

I just love it when a little glimpse of spring shows even though there are so many weeks and even months before the spring actually comes! But that crocus that shows up through the snow is just so nice and I just love it. I actually got an order in today of things I had ordered and thought they would send them at the appropriate time…nope and now I have to plant them with snow on the ground…that is just not going to work!

Healing Herbs
Posted on 01.16.09 by thegardengossip @

I personally love to grow my own herbs and I think that many of them have great healing properties such as Echinacea. Many doctors frown upon herbs and herbal remedies but I have to wonder if it is because of selfish and money motivated reasons. I think that herbs are amazing if they are used properly and that they have properties modern man-made medicines may not have. Not to mention that many medicines have these herbs in them. They are now saying that this herb may not help your colds but I disagree. I think that this herb could help a cold but many herbs are best at preventing things. I think that herbs and herbal teas and tinctures are best for those preventative methods.
