My Indoor Plants
Posted on 07.11.12 by thegardengossip @

I am just so upset. My plants at my office are just horrible looking. It is just so upsetting because I work hard at keeping my plants looking nice. Some one moved them out of the sun for a week and they are just not looking very good. I think that I will be able to get them back to looking better than ever in a few days. I really hope so because one of these plants mean alot to me.

Hold Flowers In Place
Posted on 12.19.11 by thegardengossip @

Here is a great tip to hold your artificial flowers in place in your vase. Just fill the vase with a little sale and add just a little cold water – arrange your artificial flowers the way you would like and the salt will solidify so that the flowers will stay in place. And it will not look bad because the salt is white even if it is a clear vase. This is an easy, quick and very cost efficient way of getting this task tone!

Norfolk Pine Tree
Posted on 04.02.11 by thegardengossip @

If you are looking for an indoor pine tree then check ou the Norfolk Pine Tree. Pine trees are fabulous for help to emit negative ions. In fact, they are even known to really relax and calm children. Ever take a child into a pine forest….they are most likely much more relaxed as opposed to being in the open field.

My Chia Pet
Posted on 06.29.09 by thegardengossip @

So, I had a chia pet and it did not do well at all! I had it for weeks and only 1/2 of it came out…it looked as though it was going bald. I really think the seeds were from the 80’s which is why they didn’t work because I followed the instructions. I really should have tried to get the chia herbs because the regular chia pet really does serve no purpose at all.

If you want to not worry so much about your plants drying up and being with out water here is the trick for you. Line the bottom of the pot with an absorbent diaper – and then put the dirt in and the plant. This way the moisture will stay longer in the pot therefore you will not have to water it as much.

Keep Your Flowers Upright
Posted on 11.12.07 by thegardengossip @

Sometimes you get flowers and the stems are already kind of drooping and they just do not look as nice as they could…especially if you are trying to arrange them yourself because they are freshly cut flowers from your garden. Here is a trick to make them stand upright in your vase…looking nice and perky for a few days at least. Just get many pieces of transparent tape and put it across the top of the vase and just leave spaces for the flowers to go in.

Feeding Ferns
Posted on 11.06.07 by thegardengossip @

Here is a great tip for you if you have ferns and they are not looking all that great. I just love potted ferns … but when you water them occationally instead of using water use some brewed tea. The tannic acid in the tea will give the plant nutrients and it will start looking fabulous again! Or you can open the tea bag and put the tea leaves in the soil…that works great too.

Your Cactus
Posted on 11.06.07 by thegardengossip @

Be sure if you have a cactus that you let the soil dry out during the winter months especially. It will actually make the cactus more helathy and allow for the blooms to be more plentiful and beautiful when the do bloom. And do not put fertilizer in the soil either. You will definately notice a differnet in the spring with their blooms. It is weird when you notice that the soil is completley and totally dried do not freak out…just know that you are actually make the cactus healthier.

Overwatering
Posted on 11.04.07 by thegardengossip @

Do not overwater your plants. If you see that your plants are just very droopy then you may want to cut back on the watering. Sometimes that is the easiest fix – Put your plant in sunlight for a few days and see if that will bring it back to life as well as give it tback it’s color that has been seeming to fade over the past week weeks. I always seemed to overwater my cactuses – and that always seems to get them back to what they were like before I overwatered them.

Keep Your Indoor Plants Healthy
Posted on 05.01.07 by thegardengossip @

Here is what I do for my plants…I take a pencil and poke very deep holes in the center of the mass of roots. That way the water will go all the way down into the roots. Also for houseplants – put them in saucers filled with rocks and just rill the saucer below the top of the rock – keep yours plants hydrated and looking healthy and pretty!
